DC Charter School Data

All public schools in the District of Columbia have robust data available from the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Career (PARCC), the assessment that public school students take annually to measure the academic progress of students. These data are critical to see how schools are performing and serving their students and families.

Five years of progress:

Charter schools have increased proficiency (scoring a Level 4 or 5) each year in math and English language arts since PARCC was first created, showing a strong path of academic progress.

Serving students east of the river:

In 2019, charter schools students outperformed their counterparts in DC Public Schools in Wards 7 and 8.

More must be done to ensure that all students are learning on or above grade level, and that DC’s students have access to the school of their choice. Join the movement today.

Sector

In 2019, Black students and at-risk students who attend charter schools performed better than their DCPS counterparts. In DC, at-risk includes students who are in foster care, experience homelessness, receive public assistance through TANF or SNAP, or, for high school students, are over-age for their grade.

Ward

In 2019, charter schools students outperformed their counterparts in DC Public Schools in Wards 7 and 8.
