DC Charter Schools Applaud OSSE Request for Federal Standardized Tests Waiver

Feb 25, 2021

Washington, DC – Following the news that Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE) will request a federal waiver from administering the annual PARCC standardized tests, DC Charter School Alliance Founding Executive Director Shannon Hodge released the following statement:

“Asking students and teachers to spend valuable instruction time on standardized tests is both unnecessary and harmful, particularly when that time could be better used to support the academic needs of students. The vast majority of DC charter school leaders support OSSE’s decision to request a standardized tests waiver this spring, and we’re thankful they are taking this step to put the best interests of students first.”
